Young Women Mother’s Day Activity Ideas
Celebrate Mother’s Day with these meaningful Young Women activity ideas! Including a flower frame craft, heartfelt letters, mother-daughter photos, and fun treat ideas—plus bonus LDS Mother’s Day activity ideas to make the day extra special.

When we sat down to plan our Young Women Mother’s Day activity, the girls had one request: chocolate-covered strawberries with their moms!
We loved the idea, but we knew we needed a few more elements to make the night feel extra special and meaningful. So we got creative and pulled together a simple yet heartfelt evening that included a beautiful craft, mother-daughter letters, and a few sweet surprises.
It turned out to be such a touching activity—one that we’ll all remember for years to come. Here’s everything we did, plus even more ideas you can use for your own Young Women Mother’s Day celebration!
Materials Needed

For this activity you will need the following:
- 8×10 frames (I got these from the Dollar Store to save money. If you want the flowers to fit well, you’ll need shadowbox frames but these are more expensive)
- Photo mats (for the frames that didn’t have a big enough mat included)
- Fabric flowers (option 1, option 2)
- Hot glue gun
- Cutting pliers (to remove the flower backs)
- Cute stationary and envelopes
- Desired treats (we did chocolate fondue with fruits and other dippers)
Mother’s Day Activity

A few weeks before the activity, we handed out stationary to the girls during our Sunday lesson and had them write a letter to their moms. Then we secretly took stationary to the moms and had them write a letter to their daughters.
Before the activity I told everyone we would be taking pictures so they could plan accordingly. We also gave the moms advance notice so they could plan to make it to the activity.
We started by explaining the craft – pressed flower frames. All of the girls chose a frame and the flowers they wanted to use to decorate. Some of the frames didn’t have a mat that was thick enough to glue flowers on, so that’s where the extra mats came in. The girls glued these to the provided mats and then added the flowers.
I took mother/daughter pairs out one at a time and took their photos. Later, I printed these out so they could put them in their frames.
We also had chocolate fondue and other delicious treats.
While everyone was enjoying their treats, I handed out the letters for moms and daughters to read. This was a really special moment because we had a foreign exchange student with us and she got to read a letter from her mom in Germany!
We even invited the leaders to bring their moms with them! My mom was the only one who showed up, and I was so grateful she was there!
It was such a special activity and I can’t wait for next year!
