Looking for LDS baptism party ideas for boys? I’m sharing all of the details from the party I planned for my son’s special day including the baptism invitation, decorations, and theme!
Eight is a very important age for members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because it’s the age you can get baptized.
We’ve been planning for this event ever since my oldest was born, and I was so excited for his special day!
It’s customary in our church to have all of the family and friends who’ve come to support your child over for a celebration after the baptism.
My oldest is my only boy, so I wanted to make sure I gave him a party that was masculine and memorable.
As I was searching for baptism party ideas online, I couldn’t find many specifically for boys, so I was on my own when it came to decorating and the theme. I decided to share what I did and used to help anyone who may be planning a baptism party for a boy in the near future.
Baptism Party Theme
One of my favorite songs that we sing in our church is “I Am A Child of God.”
The words in this song are:
“I am a child of God, and He has sent me here,
Has given me an earthly home whit parents kind and dear.
Lead me, guide me, walk beside me, help me find the way.
Teach me all that I must do to live with Him someday.”
I didn’t have a theme in mind until I found a sign on Etsy with the name of the song on it and I knew that was it!
I wanted to make sure that everyone who came to our house to celebrate my son’s choice to be baptized knew that they were a child of God and to focus on the important step my son had made.
I designed my son’s baptism invitation after looking through a few ideas on Pinterest.
I kept it simple with just his name, photo, the details of the baptism, and a navy blue background.
Baptism Party Decorations
When it came to the baptism party decorations, it was a challenge because I’m used to decorating with flowers and pretty fabrics. I decided to opt for more masculine eucalyptus garlands and a burlap runner and it worked perfectly.
I loved how Hudson’s baptism pictures turned out so I printed several to put along the food table and the kitchen island. I saved money on the frames by getting them at the dollar store!
I also had a table next to the sign in our entryway with a book for guests to write in and pictures of my husband and me from our baptisms.

Baptism Party Food
The baptism was at 1:00 in the afternoon, so it was kind of tricky to plan the food. It was a little too late for lunch and too early for dinner, so I settled on snacks and treats.
We served fruit with a cream cheese dip, veggies with ranch dip, banana bars, mint brownies, 8 sugar cookies, and lemonade.
The food was perfect and everyone loved it!

Most LDS baptisms follow the same agenda:
1. Everyone meets in the church chapel to sing songs and hear a few speakers.
2. The baptism candidates are dismissed one at a time to go to the font.
3. The baptism ordinance takes place and the family is dismissed to go to another room for the confirmation while the person baptizing and the candidate change.
4. The confirmation takes place.
5. The family and friends can visit and take pictures.
You can wear whatever you feel comfortable in going to church, but most guests will be wearing:
-A shirt, tie, and dress pants for the men and boys
-A dress or nice shirt and skirt for the women and girls
You definitely don’t have to, but if you choose to, I’m sure the person being baptized will be grateful! Some baptism gift ideas are:
-A tie clip for boys
-A piece of jewelry for girls
-A nice necktie for boys
-A new dress for girls
-Scripture accessories like a case or marking pencils
-Missionary money bank
-Money for a mission fund
Desert Book has a whole section dedicated to baptism gifts so you’re sure to find something meaningful there.
I couldn’t have asked for a more special day for Hudson. The baptism ordinance is obviously the most important part of the day, but the fact that the party turned out so perfectly was just the icing on the cake!
