Inside: I share my healthy morning routine to start the day right.

Mornings have always been a struggle for me.

And it’s become even worse as I’ve transitioned into motherhood.

I’m just so dang tired in the mornings.

But I find that my day goes a lot smoother when I get up at a decent hour, take a little time for me, and practice some healthy habits.

In fact, there are exactly 4 steps in my healthy morning routine, and I’m sharing those with you today so you can start your own routine ASAP!

Healthy Morning Routine For Moms

1. Meditation/Prayer

Mental health is so important as a mom, so taking the time to meditate or pray every morning will get you in the right mindset.

It may be a little tricky to work this time with kids, so talk to your partner about working in some alone time for you every morning, even if it’s 5 minutes.

Possibly when everyone else is eating breakfast or getting ready for the day.

When you do get that alone time, here are a few ideas for your meditation:

  • Say some daily affirmations
  • Do some guided mindfulness meditation
  • Visualize how your children show their love for you and commit to acknowledge it during the day

PRO TIP: If you keep your phone on your nightstand like I do, it can be tempting to use any alone time you get during the day to scroll social media. Keep your phone downstairs or in the bathroom to charge so you aren’t tempted in the morning.

Out of sight; out of mind.

2. Exercise

Mom exercises in her healthy morning routine.

The next step in a healthy morning routine is to exercise, but it doesn’t need to be overly thought out or intense.

I find that 30 minutes 3 times a week is the right amount for my schedule, but you may have time for 20 minutes every morning or 45 minutes twice a week.

Just stay consistent to give your body a healthy start every morning.

PRO TIP: There are tons of free workouts on YouTube that you can do from the comfort of your home and several don’t require any equipment.

If you do want a little resistance, grab yourself a set of inexpensive exercise bands. It’s cheaper than buying a full weight set and you can still have a great workout.

It can be difficult to exercise with kiddos around, so that may be a good time to put on a yoga video or pull out some special toys as a distraction.

And no shame if you have to push your workout to nap time so you don’t have to deal with a baby climbing all over you!

3. Healthy Breakfast

They always say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and it’s totally true!

But sometimes the mornings can get hectic and before you know it, 12 o’clock has rolled around and you didn’t eat anything.

Here are a few ideas for quick, easy breakfasts that you can have on hand to save time:

  • Hard-boiled eggs: You can make several at a time in a pressure cooker while you get ready or help your kids.
  • Yogurt parfaits: Prep some cut fruit and a single portion of yogurt the night before so you can easily assemble in the morning
  • Peanut butter toast: Put the bread in the toaster while you do the breakfast dishes.
  • Instant oatmeal or wheat cereal: If you don’t have time to make something from scratch, the instant packets are a lifesaver. Check the package before purchasing to make sure it’s low in sugar.
  • Protein bars/shakes: I love to throw some shakes in the fridge and some bars in my bag for a super easy meal on the go.

4. Healthy Beauty Routine

The last step in a good morning routine is to have a healthy beauty regimen.

I don’t necessarily have the time (or the desire!) to do my make up every day, but I do make time to wash my face, apply SPF, and use some LISTERINE® Gum Therapy Antiseptic Mouthwash.

Having three kids has done a number on my gums, so I love that LISTERINE® Gum Therapy Antiseptic Mouthwash helps reverse signs of early gum disease such as red, bleeding, and inflamed gums.

I grabbed my bottle of LISTERINE® Gum Therapy Antiseptic from my local Walmart, but if you don’t feel comfortable going in-store, you can add it to your online pickup order or have it shipped directly to your house.
