I’m SO excited to share my glam Christmas decorations with you all today! We’ve had the same, small tree for 5 years now, so it was definitely time for an upgrade.
I started wanting red and gray decorations our first Christmas. I also wanted a red kitchen before we got married. But the thing is…I HATE red. Like seriously. I honestly don’t know what I was thinking.
My mom always did a pink, Victorian looking tree every year and I thought it was so silly to have a pink tree, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized that’s what I wanted for a Christmas tree theme! So out went the red Christmas ornaments and in came the blush pink, white, and glitter everything! I decided to completely redo all of my Christmas home decor and I’m so happy with how my glam Christmas decorations turned out.
Now the title of this post is “Get Gorgeous Glam Christmas Decorations on a Budget.” I tried to do this as cheaply as possible. It ended up costing about $200 for everything I bought. Maybe that’s a lot, but I did replace almost everything we had. Here’s how I did it:
Saved Some Christmas Decorations
So I still had some decorations I did want to use. My handmade trees I did the first year we got married; my Christmas prints; one of the stockings; and some of my ornaments. Everything else I got rid of. It was nice to not have to buy EVERYTHING again.
DIY Christmas Decorations
I knew I wanted a flocked tree this year. I wanted to hide the green as much as I could, but I didn’t want a crazy all-white tree. But have you seen how much it is to buy a pre-flocked tree?? The good ones are $600!! I spent $80 on the tree and $20 on the flocking and I love the result! It looks like a tree with fresh snow fall on it. I bought this bag of flock on Amazon. The whole bag did my 7.5 foot tree. However, when I started taking the pieces inside, the flock started falling off! I sprayed that tree like crazy with water before and after I applied the flock. So then I went to Walmart and got some spray snow for $1.50 a can. I covered the bare patches with that and it looked nice and dusted again. However, that started falling off once we did the ornaments.
SO I went back to Walmart and got some spray adhesive and I’m going to try adding that once we take all of the ornaments off. So I don’t know if it’s the tree we bought or you really have to soak it in water to get the flock to stick, but it didn’t stay as well as I hoped. I still love the look of what DID stick.
Found Glam Christmas Decoration Sales
You know I love a good sale! Michaels was having a 30% off sale on their Christmas décor and I had a 20% off coupon or something so I got most of my décor there for $120. Then I went back to pick up one thing and saw their décor was 70% off so I got those two pink pillows for my couch for $10 each! I’m going to keep them up all year long I love them so much! I almost wish I would have waited for that big sale to buy everything, but then it may have been sold out.
That’s how I got my decorations on a budget this year. I spent a few weeks looking for everything I wanted so I knew when it was at a good price. It feels good to finally have the tree and décor I’ve always wanted. Here’s to hoping I don’t change my mind again in a few years haha!
