Our baby girl is one!

I knew from early on that I wanted to have a floral first birthday party theme for Ella’s party, and I’m so happy with how everything came together!

I can’t wait to share the details.

Party Decor

These floral party decorations were so cute and easy to put together.

I made a lot of the party decor myself, but purchased a few key items to make the celebration extra special.

Floral Photo Hoop DIY

Monthly baby photos in a gold floral hoop frame with pink and white flowers on the side.

SO many of you have been asking how/where I made the gold hoop frame for Ella’s monthly pictures!

It was seriously the easiest DIY ever.

I bought a hula hoop from the dollar store and just spray painted it gold. I used this gold paint. I’ve used it on several other projects in my home and I’m obsessed with the color. It’s almost a rose gold and is so beautiful.

Then I just hot glued some flowers I took from a Michael’s faux floral bouquet and some gold ribbon that was also from Michael’s.

Floral Wooden Hoop Wreaths

White and green floral hoop wreaths hang from a kitchen ceiling.

This was another easy DIY! I just found several wooden embroidery hoops at Michael’s and some pretty white flowers and leaves I liked and hot glued them on! I used the 14″, 10″, and 7″ sizes here.

Floral “E”

A letter "E" made out of cardboard and pink, and white faux flowers hanging on a wall.

Yet another easy DIY!

I traced the shape of an E on cardboard and then just hot glued flowers from the same bouquet I used for the photo collage.

I added some green leaves to give it a more natural look.

It hangs in her room and was one of my favorite DIY projects I did before she was born!

Ella’s Headband

How cute was this floral headband?

This was another Etsy shop purchase from HeartfeltBlooms.

It was the perfect finishing touch to Ella’s birthday outfit!

Party Food

We kept the party food simple with cupcakes, fruits, and finger foods.

The cute golden cake and cupcake toppers are from PeachyDetails and we got the cake and cupcakes from Smith’s bakery.

Party Favors

The perfect party favor for a floral first birthday is, of course, flowers!

You can pick up some inexpensive potted flowers from the lawn and garden section of most supermarkets or from home improvement stores.

Cake Smash

We loved including a cake smash in Ella’s party.

Cake smashes are always so cute and fun. But, also a little messy!

We made sure to remove Ella’s adorable white dress before letting her dig into her cake!

First Birthday Party Planning Tips

A little girl sits in her floral and tulle decorated high chair for her first birthday.

Ella’s beautiful party wouldn’t have been possible without all of my talented friends! My mom kept asking me if I made all of the floral first birthday decorations! Unfortunately I’m not that talented (nor do I have that much time)!

A few things I learned from throwing Hudson’s first birthday party helped me plan Ella’s:

  • It’s OK if you’re not planning months in advance. With Hudson I handmade EVERYTHING and it literally took me months to get it all together. This time I just spent a few weeks before nailing down the details.
  • So on that note, you have to figure how much your time is worth. What I mean is…is it worth it to make the cupcakes, and the banner, and the favors, and the invitations by yourself??? I did all of that for Hudson’s birthday and the day of his party was crazy! This time I decided to let my talented friends help with parts of the party so that I wasn’t running around the whole time!
  • We did her party at 3:00 and it was PERFECT! I did a lunch for Hudson’s first birthday party and it was so much work. I hardly had any time to enjoy my guests. But with Ella’s we just had snacks so I saved SO MUCH MONEY on food!
  • I also had my sister-in-law take pictures this time, which also allowed me to spend more time with my guests, and the pictures turned out so beautiful! Sometimes it’s just best not to do it all.

So all in all her party was a success: I wasn’t stressed out, and I think everyone had a good time!
