Beach Maternity Shoot Tips
Use these tips to make sure your beach photoshoot goes smoothly and that you capture the best possible photos!
Clothing
Flowy Dresses and Fabrics: Choose a flowy dress or outfit that can move with the breeze. Fabrics like chiffon or silk look stunning when caught in the wind and add a romantic, ethereal feel to your pictures. Light, pastel colors or white are ideal for a beach setting.
Barefoot Beauty: Going barefoot on the beach adds a relaxed, natural touch to your photos. You can also use the opportunity to highlight the beauty of your surroundings, like stepping into the shallow water or leaving footprints in the sand.
Comfortable and Confident: Choose an outfit that makes you feel comfortable and confident. If you’re comfortable, it will show in your pictures. Bring a blanket or shawl in case it gets chilly, and stay hydrated, especially if it’s a hot day.
Setting
Golden Hour Lighting: Schedule your beach maternity pictures during the golden hour, which is the hour after sunrise or before sunset. The natural lighting during this time is soft and flattering, creating beautiful, warm tones that enhance your photos.
Include the Horizon: Make use of the vast ocean and horizon in your composition. This can create a sense of serenity and expansiveness in your photos. Play with different angles and perspectives to capture the stunning scenery alongside your maternity glow.
Consider the Weather: Check the weather forecast and choose a day with mild, calm conditions. Overcast days can provide even, diffused lighting, which is great for photos, while sunny days can offer vibrant colors and reflections.
Poses
Natural Poses and Movements: Opt for natural poses and gentle movements. Walking along the shore, sitting on the sand, or standing with your hand on your belly can create intimate and authentic moments. Avoid stiff poses; instead, interact with your surroundings and partner if present.
Use Beach Props: Incorporate beach props like a wide-brimmed hat, a flower crown, or a flowing scarf. These can add interest to your photos and give you something to interact with, making your poses more dynamic and varied.
