Floral Photo Hoop DIY

SO many of you have been asking how/where I made the gold hoop frame for Ella’s monthly pictures! It was seriously the easiest DIY ever. I bought a hula hoop from the dollar store and just spray painted it gold. This is the gold paint I used. I’ve used it on several other projects in my home and I’m obsessed with the color. It’s almost a rose gold and is so beautiful. Then I just hot glued some extra flowers I had from making her “E” and some gold ribbon from Michael’s. I hope that helps!

Floral Wooden Hoop Wreaths

This was another easy DIY! I just found several wooden embroidery hoops at Michael’s and some pretty white flowers and leaves I liked and hot glued them on! I used the 14″, 10″, and 7″ sizes here.

Floral “E”

Yet another easy DIY! I traced the shape of an E on cardboard and then just hot glued flowers on that I clipped off of bouquets I got at Michael’s. I added some green leaves on to give it a more natural look. It hangs in her room and was one of my favorite DIY projects I did before she was born!

Four Party Planning Tips

Ella’s beautiful party wouldn’t have been possible without all of my talented friends! My mom kept asking me if I made all of the floral first birthday decorations! Unfortunately I’m not that talented (nor do I have that much time)!

A few things I learned from throwing Hudson’s first birthday party helped me plan Ella’s:
  • It’s OK if you’re not planning months in advance. With Hudson I handmade EVERYTHING and it literally took me months to get it all together. This time I just spent a few weeks before nailing down the details.
  • So on that note, you have to figure how much your time is worth. What I mean is…is it worth it to make the cupcakes, and the banner, and the favors, and the invitations by yourself??? I did all of that for Hudson’s birthday and the day of his party was crazy! This time I decided to let my talented friends help with parts of the party so that I wasn’t running around the whole time!
  • We did her party at 3:00 and it was PERFECT! I did a lunch for Hudson’s first birthday party and it was so much work. I hardly had any time to enjoy my guests. But with Ella’s we just had snacks so I saved SO MUCH MONEY on food!
  • I also had my sister-in-law take pictures this time, which also allowed me to spend more time with my guests, and the pictures turned out so beautiful! Sometimes it’s just best not to do it all.
So all-in-all her party was a success: I wasn’t stressed out, and I think everyone had a good time!

So so beautiful! We are doing a floral theme for our daughter Magnolia’s first birthday and I had the same idea to do some floral hanging hoops! Yours are beautiful! Would you mind sharing where you found the wooden hoops?

  19. Hi Alli! That is so fun and love her name! How perfect! I got the hoops at Michael's! It was a pack of 3 I believe and I used both parts. They were cross stich hoops so I got 6 out of the pack. I just covered the metal part with the flowers!

  20. Alli Bryant says:

Perfect! That’s what I was thinking I’d have to do! Thanks for much for getting back to me!

      Hi Colleen! Thank you!

I always get 4×6 photos from the printer and then cut them down to a 4×4 square to fit nicely in the frame! I hope that helps!
